It is hard to believe that a new semester is already upon us! It has been so exciting to welcome our students back to campus and we are looking forward to a great fall term.
This newsletter provides key updates and resources for you and for your student. Please take special note of Regis Fest, our Homecoming/Family Weekend on September 25 and 26.

Welcoming President Cautin
Regis College’s 11th president, Dr. Robin L. Cautin, began her tenure on July 1. She has been working with staff, faculty, and students throughout the summer to solidify a new strategic plan to guide the work that we do. While she began her work a little over two months ago, we are thrilled to celebrate her inauguration on Thursday, September 24 at 2:30 p.m. You can learn more about the Inauguration as well as find Dr. Cautin’s bio on our webpage.
Academic Resources
It is never too early for students to seek assistance in attaining their educational goals. The Finucane and O’Sullivan Institute of Learning (FOIL) team is here to help all students succeed. Through student support coaching, content peer tutoring, and the writing center, students should take advantage of all we have to offer. Additionally, we have 24/7 online tutoring support through Brainfuse making getting assistance in any class easy to find. Students can find out more information by visiting the 2nd floor of the Learning Commons.
How Does Regis Support Students’ Mental Health Needs?
Adjusting, or readjusting, to college can be difficult for some students. That’s why the university offers several counseling options to support students through that adjustment period. We’re here to help. Additionally, every year we host Fresh Check Day, a national campaign to support mental health promotion and suicide prevention on college campuses. This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, September 29 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Regis Fest is our Homecoming and Family Weekend all rolled into one! We invite you to join us to visit campus and enjoy all that Regis has to offer. Some events request a registration. Check the Regis Fest website for registration information.
Regis College partners with Handshake to provide students with a modern online career management platform. Students are encouraged to use Handshake to discover employers and professional opportunities, submit internship and job applications, and attend career fairs and other events. Student Leadership Opportunity Spotlight:
Partners in Excellence Peer Mentor (Paid)
The Partners In Excellence (PIE) mentoring program is actively recruiting sophomores, juniors, and seniors to serve as Peer Mentors ($) to the 2026-2027 cohort of PIE Scholars — mainly first-year students of color and first-generation college students, meaning neither parent/guardian has earned a Bachelor's degree in the United States.
The Peer Mentor application, which includes details about compensation, requirements, duties, and more, is NOW LIVE on Handshake. Encourage your student to apply today! (Please note that your student must be logged into Handshake to view the posting.)
Note: This is NOT a federal work study position, therefore your student can apply whether or not they were awarded federal work study.
When checking in with your student, the idea is to encourage conversation, help them reflect, and make them feel understood, not interrogated.
Here are some of our favorite questions:
What surprised you the most about college/the semester so far? This lets them talk about expectations vs. reality without feeling judged.
Which classes or professors are you enjoying most? It helps them focus on positive experiences and can spark deeper academic conversations.
What’s one thing you’ve learned (about anything) since the semester started? This question values all learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
What’s your experience been, socially? Have you met anyone interesting?Social connections are major! This question opens the door for them to share.
What’s been the hardest thing you’ve had to manage so far? It’s okay to name the hard stuff, this shows you’re ready to listen.
What is something you feel really proud of from these first few days/weeks/months? It helps them reflect on their strengths and successes, big or small.
Are you finding enough support when you need it? It gently checks in on their awareness and use of campus resources, without assuming they’re struggling.
Most importantly, ask these questions with genuine curiosity, not as a checklist or quiz. The objective is to create a safe space for sharing, not to add pressure. And don’t worry if you don’t get long answers, sometimes just knowing someone cares enough to ask is the real support.
